VINTAGE SUPERBIKES RETURN TO SONOMA

CSRA, AFM, & Ramming Speed team up

[Menlo Park, CA] Classic Superbike Racing Association (CSRA) cannot keep this exciting news a secret any longer. Rumors have been circulating about something big happening in Sonoma Labor Day weekend. CSRA wanted to wait till everything was in place before letting the motorcycle community know that Superbikes will be back on track at Sonoma Raceway this summer. Capitalizing on the success of their last visit to Sonoma with MotoAmerica, the CSRA Superbikes will be back in action at Round 5 of the American Federation of Motorcyclists (AFM). CSRA in conjunction with Ramming Speed’s own king of cool Brady Walker bring you the “The Heavy.”

People are asking, what is The Heavy? Well, let’s let Brady Walker with Ramming Speed tell you, “I am calling this ‘THE HEAVY’ as this AFM weekend will be heavily focused on vintage bikes with a featured Vintage Superbike race. The late 70s & early 80s were heavy times of radical rock and roll and of course, nothing says radical racing like the superbikes produced in this period!” There will also be a vintage bike show and 70’s-80s themed events throughout the whole weekend!

Also, like any good infomercial, there is always …“but wait, there’s more?” More? How about a featured Vintage Superbike race on Saturday? That’s right! For the first time ever, the AFM has made special accommodation to allow Vintage Superbikes to be the first race of the weekend!

“What if I don’t own a Vintage Superbike?” There will be the usual vintage class race running Sunday morning. (There may be other races your vintage bike may be eligible during the day, check the AFM rulebook for additional info). Is there a better way to kick off each day of racing than with Vintage bikes?

Do we have your attention now? When is all this excitement taking place? The fun begins Friday, but you can wait until:

Sat Aug 31st

9am-3pm: Practice (5 rounds for all vintage bikes)

3pm: CSRA race

Sun Sept 1st.

Morning warm up, racing to follow

What better way to finish out the summer than to come participate in what we hope becomes an annual vintage event. Don’t miss out on the perfect cure to those end of summer blues. Come out and have some fun and bring your vintage racers or street bike!

For more detailed information visit the CSRA homepage at www.CSRA.US or visit the AFM at www.CSRA.US or google the Heavy. It’s bound to have something exciting come up.
