(Note: Ducati North America issued this corrected version of a previously issued press release.) Cook Neilson and Phil Schilling inducted into the Ducati Hall of Fame Cupertino, CA Ducati North America is proud to announce the winners of the annual “National Best” dealer awards. These awards are the highest honor a Ducati dealer can achieve and were announced at a special dinner celebration, held in conjunction with the national dealer meeting. This year’s national dealer meeting was held in Salt Lake City, Utah at the luxurious Grand America Hotel, with two days designated as formal business meetings, while the third day was set aside for riding at the brand new Miller Motorsports Park. The awards dinner and ceremony was hosted by Michael Lock and Parts Unlimited Ducati Team racers Neil Hodgson and Ben Bostrom. During the course of the evening, Lock, Hodgson and Bostrom proceeded to entertain the 300+ crowd with constant jokes and smatterings of politically incorrect behavior. Throughout the evening, Hodgson was even seen behind the bar, serving drinks to anyone who was foolish enough to order one. A good time was had by all and the party carried on until the wee hours of the morning. “This is perhaps the most fun I have had at a dealer meeting ever, and I have attended so many of these things over the years” said Tom Hicks, owner of Southern California Ducati. “I didn’t win any of the awards, but man, did I laugh and just generally enjoy myself tonight. Sometimes you forget why we are in this business, but this was a great example of how to make something that could be boring and heavy just really fun. It is good to be part of this family.” The “National Best” dealer awards; traditionally given to the top producing Ducati dealers, are the highlight of the annual dealer meeting. Earning one of these awards demonstrates that the dealer has achieved the highest standard retailing for the preceding twelve months. In addition to the Top Dealer awards, Ducati North America inducted Cook Neilson and Phil Schilling into the Ducati Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is a recognition to those who have made a significant contribution to the Ducati brand over the years. Neilson was an accomplished superbike racer and winner of the 1977 Daytona Superbike race with the famous “California Hot Rod”. Schilling was his race tuner and main supporter. The two gave very moving speeches that brought many of the dealers in the audience to tears. Ducati North America salutes the winners and acknowledges the professional accomplishments and personal success of everyone involved.
