WERA West Presented by Lucas Oil Products

Las Vegas Classic Course

April 2, 2016

Corey Sarros held off a tenacious Scott Tillery for his second Formula One win of the WERA West Sportsman Series Presented by Lucas Oil Products on Saturday, the first day of a doubleheader event at the 1.8-mile Las Vegas Classic Course.

Riding his Shades of Vail-backed Suzuki GSX-R1000 on Pirelli tires, Sarros went to the front when the flag waved on the six-lap feature event, and stayed there for the entire event. Tillery slotted into second, and the pair eased away from the pack.

But Sarros never managed to solidify his lead, and the gap back to Tillery remained stable until the penultimate lap. Sarros managed to pull out just enough of a gap that on the last lap, when Tillery made a final charge, Sarros still managed to cross the line 0.967-second ahead of Tillery on his R. Tillery-backed, Michelin-shod Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Sahar Zvik took third, 6.039 seconds behind the leader, ahead of Jay Millhiser, Brian Evans, Terry Heard and Christopher Carron.

Tillery took the A Superbike win, while Zvik hunted down Sarros and passed him in the final stages of the A Superstock race to take his first WERA win on his new ZX-10R.

Brad Saenz took his Triumph 675 to wins in Senior Superbike Middleweight, C Superstock and B Superbike.
