Sixteen-year-old Texas road racer Mikey Lou Sanchez had a standout weekend at CMRA Round 7 at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, Texas, August 8–9, winning all four of his races and setting a new clockwise motorcycle lap record.
Mikey Lou, an Austin native who currently lives and races in Spain, returned home to Texas for summer vacation and took the opportunity to race in front of family, friends, and the Texas motorcycle racing community.
Riding a 2011 Suzuki GSX-R750 owned by Texas Motorcycle Academy, Craig Gleason, and setup by Jimmy Cambora of Raceworx USA, Mikey Lou entered four Expert sprint races and won all four:
• Heavyweight Superbike Expert
• Heavyweight Superstock Expert
• NextGen Supersport Expert
• Formula 1 Expert

Formula 1 is CMRA’s premier sprint class. Starting from the back of the grid, Mikey Lou worked his way through the field and won each of his four races by convincing margins.
Mikey Lou also broke the existing motorcycle lap record multiple times during the weekend, ultimately setting a new clockwise Eagles Canyon Raceway motorcycle lap record of 1:53.459.
Mikey Lou will next be on track Saturday, August 15, at Harris Hill Raceway in San Marcos, Texas, for a benefit fundraiser supporting his racing program.
He will then return to Spain for a two-day Moto4 European Championship test at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, August 26–27, followed by his next MotoJunior Championship race weekend at the same circuit, September 5–6.
