The Ridge Motorsports Park Sponsors Two Day Event to Benefit Local Charities December 13, 2012 Shelton, WA On December 10th & 11th, the newly constructed Ridge Motorsports Park near Shelton, WA, coordinated a two day charity event to promote itself to the regional Pacific Northwest motorsports community while providing much needed support for two local charities. Over 300 motorsports enthusiasts, riders, & drivers attended the extravaganza and had their chance to gulp in the excitement that this challenging new circuit brings. Through a select special invite, entrants were required to pay $150 fee and bring a minimum of 3 canned food items, with all proceeds going directly to the two charities: SOCK (Save Our Counties Kids) and the Shelton Division of Family Services Christmas Foster Children Fund. The event generated over 1000 food items and over $10,000 to donate to the two charities. Saturday’s event featured motorcycles, while Sunday brought in the region’s car groups. Over 60 riders, ranging from Canada to Oregon, took to the track on the 10th to be the first organized group of any kind to turn laps. WMRRA President Tim O’Mahony, had nothing but great things to say about the The Ridge, “The Ridge Motorsports Park is the most fun track ever! This place is going to change racing in the North West forever! Thanks to Rod, Joe and the whole TRMG for building this fabulous facility!” Other riders shared his jubilation and were extremely excited about the prospects of track days and racing that are scheduled for the 2012 season. Many spoke of the track’s name sake, “The Ridge” which is a 90 foot drop, comprised of a hard left turn at the end of a straight followed by an immediate right hand corner, stating it is very challenging and going to create incredible passing opportunities. Even though temperatures were in the mid 30’s, the event jointly coordinated by WMRRA & 2Fast Motorcycle Track Days & Instruction, came off as a complete success! Many riders are already inquiring as to when they can get a chance to turn their wheels at The Ridge for 2012. They won’t have to wait long, with over 20 motorcycle track day events and schools already scheduled for next year in addition to three race rounds held by WMRRA, The Ridge Motorsports Park looks to be well attended by motorcyclists in 2012. Just a dream roughly 4 years ago, owners Rod Powell & Joe Manke have spent the last 7 months at breakneck pace, diligently building “The Ridge” facility into what they believe will be the premier motorsports park in the Pacific Northwest. The Ridge features a 2.47 mile road course with 16 turns, a 3000′ straight, over 400′ of elevation change. Unique characteristics include a 3 turn “Lemur Complex” named after Rod’s grandson that alone brags of 125′ of elevation change, an exciting “Carousel” which is roughly 200°, and “The Ridge Complex” that is a 80′ drop right out of an amusement park. It is no wonder participants of the event left with big eyes and even bigger smiles. The park also includes a separate drag strip, dropped 8′ into the ground to minimize decibel levels on launch with an inclined shut down lane for increased safety for drag racers. Thanks to relentless work from Rusty Gill construction, their dreams have turned into reality and they are right on schedule to be ready for the 2012 season. Located just a few miles to the NW of Shelton, WA, The Ridge Motorsports Park is something to see. Centrally located between Seattle Washington and Portland Oregon, it is an easy 90 to 100 minute drive from most major cities.
