Several changes should improve the experience for Team Hammer Advanced Riding School & Track Rides participants attending the October 20 event at Daytona International Speedway. A new registration location should allow for a smoother registration process and movement of participants into the Speedway. A newly-constructed ticket sales booth near the new tunnel under NASCAR Turn One will be used for Team Hammer (and CCS/Formula USA) registration, which will begin Wednesday, October 19 at approximately 3:30 p.m. for pre-registered riders, staff and vendors only. Sign-in for pre-registered Team Hammer participants will continue at the same location Thursday, October 20 starting at 6:30 a.m. Pre-registered participants will be given priority, and no post-entries will be signed up until all pre-registered riders are signed in Thursday morning. In other words, any riders who try to sign up for the Team Hammer school, track ride or practice sessions on-site October 20 may not get into the DIS facility until mid-morning, in addition to paying additional, on-site registration fees. Thursday gate passes will also be sold, for $10 each, during the October 19 early registration period and starting at 6:30 a.m. October 20. Anyone wanting to enter the track before noon on October 20 will need a Team Hammer gate pass. The new registration location has two large, grass fields nearby in which to stage race transporters while signing in. DIS workers will direct participants to park in these areas October 20. The new registration building’s proximity to the new tunnel under Turn One will allow participants to drive into the Speedway as soon as they have their credentials, as opposed to having to wait for a DIS security guard escort as at the old registration location. The tunnel under turn one will be open to staff and workers at 6:00 a.m. October 20 and will open to Team Hammer participants and crew beginning at approximately 6:30 a.m. The first on-track session October 20 will be at 8:00 a.m. After this time, access to the paddock from outside the track will be limited to in-between-session track crossings, but not as limited as previously, when track crossings happened at the chicane on the back straightaway. Team Hammer participants who will only be riding on October 20 will be parked in the open-air garages east of the NEXTEL garages. In addition to providing shelter from the elements, this location will provide easy access to the new classrooms, located in the smaller driver meeting rooms at the west end of the NEXTEL garage paddock, and to technical inspection, at the Team M4 EMGO Suzuki semi-truck on the north side of the NEXTEL garages. CCS and F-USA racers who will also be participating in the October 20 Team Hammer day will be directed to their assigned garage and/or parking space in either the NEXTEL or Busch Cup garages where they will park once for the entire weekend. Any questions regarding the October 20 Team Hammer Advanced Riding School & Track Rides event at DIS should be directed to the Team Hammer office at (951) 245-6414. Any questions regarding CCS and Formula USA should be directed to those organizations at (817) 857-3254 www.ccsracing.com, www.formulsausa.com.
