Brett McCormick, the 20-year-old 2011 Canadian Superbike Champion, will race a Ducati 1199 Panigale in the FIM 1000cc Superstock European Championship for Effenbert Liberty Racing Team next season. “Super pumped to announce my 2012 plans! Signed with Effenbert Liberty Racing for STK1000 on the new Ducati 1199 Panigale!!!” McCormick tweeted on December 9. McCormick earned the opportunity by putting in an impressive performance while testing one of Effenbert Liberty Racing’s Ducati 1098R Superbikes October 18 in Portimao, Portugal. The young Canadian will make his debut with the team February 13 during a test at Phillip Island. Effenbert Liberty Racing Team fielded Jakub Smrz and Sylvain Guintoli in the 2011 FIM Superbike World Championship. The team will continue with Smrz and Guintoli in 2012 and will add Maxime Berger to their Superbike squad.
