Team BEI Racing/Dunlop Development And Vesrah Suzuki Take Overall Top Spots And Class Wins At WERA National 6 hour Endurance Race At Miller Motorsports Park. WERA’s National Endurance series held its first round at Miller Motorsports park this past Saturday, May 19, in Tooele Utah. Perfect weather and temperatures in the mid-seventies made for a great day of racing as racers and teams from all over the country and Canada converged on the the 3.2 mile perimeter course. The 6 hour endurance race had a combined grid of 25 teams, with classes Heavyweight, Mediumweight, Lightweight, and Trophy Class. WERA sponsor Lucas Oil held a cash prize drawing of $250 for two lucky teams that drove over 250 miles from each class. The entire race ran with one crash and no red flags, and competition was close. BEI Racing/Dunlop Development took the lead in Overall and Heavyweight early on, holding off TOBC Racing 2 and Vesrah Suzuki from the Mediumweight class. MWR Investigations, Team TrackXperience and Paradigm Racing would round out the top six for the first four hours of the race. There was very little attrition due to mechanicals, and the field stayed strong all the way to hour 6. BEI Racing/Dunlop Development would take the checkers as Vesrah Suzuki pulled into to second overall, followed by MWR Investigations, Team TrackXperience, Paradigm Racing, and TOBC Racing 2. “Vesrah Suzuki’s 600 team is the development team for the upcoming younger racers,” says Billy Etheridge, owner of the BEI Racing/Dunlop Development/Twigg Cycle/Vesrah Suzuki GSXR 1000.”They are based out of the (team’s) Wisconsin AMA (program) headquarters and are a very solid competitive team. We started out in 2001 with Vesrah as our brake sponsor, but last year, they really stepped up the sponsorship and we did motor development with them as well. Mark Junge was one of the riders for the championship team. Our plan was to only run a couple of rounds last year, then Tony Romo from Dunlop approached us and we started doing development on the US made Dunlops, it snow balled from there, and we ended up with another championship. Coming into this weekend, we weren’t sure what to expect for competition. We read the press release from the Kando Yamaha guys and were looking forward to some good racing. Mark Junge couldn’t make it, so we got Benny Solis instead. It was his first weekend on a liter bike, and he ran a 1:56.01 on the US made Dunlop Slick. It was a great day of racing, and we had a really good time, the bike ran great, and the tires were great. “I do want to thank our sponsors for backing our racing efforts: Dunlop, Vesrah, Yoshimura, Thermos Man, Spiegler, Arai, Twigg Cycles, Sidi, Penske, Motonation, Pit Bull, Moto-Heaven/Thrust Company, and Dion Device. I would also like to especially thank Tony Romo for al the effort he puts into the team to make this all possible.” WERA NATIONAL ENDURANCE Overall 1.BEI Racing/Dunlop Development, Heavyweight, Suz GSXR-1000, 175 laps 2.
