Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Michael Barnes has been ruled out of the remainder of the AMA race event at Daytona International Speedway due to a knee injury he suffered in a crash during AMA Supersport qualifying Wednesday afternoon.

Barnes was scheduled to race in the AMA Supersport race and the Daytona 200 by Honda Formula Xtreme race.

When asked about the nature of Barnes’ injury, a team official said, “He has a hole in his (right) knee.”

Barnes’ teammate Geoff May who was already slated to race in Supersport, Superstock and Superbike — will now also ride Barnes’ GSX-R600 Formula Xtreme bike in the Daytona 200. In other words, May will ride in all four races this weekend at Daytona.

More details on Barnes’ condition will be reported when they become available.
