ASBK announce 2017 framework

As the 2016 Yamaha Motor Finance Australia Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli, comes down to the wire with every category champion still to be decided at the final round, preparations have already begun for the highly anticipated 2017 season.
Continuing with the significant growth of the championship grids, factory team involvement and expanding media coverage Motorcycling Australia and the ASBK Management Team are now pleased to share the framework for 2017. Next year, riders, teams, and fans can expect up to a maximum of seven rounds in the series to be held across Australia.
“After a highly successful championship this year, and with competitor numbers being very strong, as well as new dynamic support classes, we are very excited to continue this forward momentum,” Motorcycling Australia Acting CEO Peter Doyle explained.
“We expect to see the continued growth for each of the strong grids at every round, and we’re very pleased to have now made the first of a number of exciting announcements on our plans for the coming year.
In addition, the ASBK Management Team structure will continue to go from strength to strength and will again make significant improvements to the championship format for 2017. As part of this forward momentum recently appointed Motorcycling Australia Operations and Events Director Martin Port, brings with him a diverse and rich skillset.
As a former AMCN sports editor, with vast experience in delivering international motorcycling events, including many years travelling with the MotoGP, Martin will be a great asset to the ASBK Championship across numerous areas.
Throughout this season, the ABSK has solidified partnerships with its sponsors, motorcycle industry, host clubs, and the local government to bring teams, riders, fans and spectators a well-managed and exciting championship, and looks forward to taking the championship to the next level in 2017.
