ANTHONY AND MADAMA SET NEW LAP RECORDS AT CHUCKWALLA VALLEY RACEWAY DURING JANUARY RACING

David Anthony lowers Formula Open class record, Jason Madama sets new class records for 350 SuperSport.

Racing in January only happens in a few places in North America, and Desert Center, CA, is undoubtedly the epicenter of roadracing action during the winter months. On January 20 and 21 Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association hosted Round Four of its seven-part Winter Series, and while the weather was challenging on Saturday it was nearly ideal on Sunday.

The promise of fair conditions drew riders from across the country, and SoCal delivered on Sunday with calm and warm conditions that contributed to some intense racing and blistering-fast lap times. Fast laps include a record-setting 1:45.91 time by “Aussie Dave” Anthony on his Kawasaki ZX-10R in the Formula Open class. Anthony lowered the bar while in first place, a position he held from flag to flag. The race was a strong comeback for Anthony, who had a mechanical in Saturday’s race that sidelined him and allowed young-gun Andrew Lee, also on a ZX-10R, to take the win. Lee took second behind Anthony in Sunday’s sprint.

At the opposite end of the displacement spectrum rider Jason Madama, visiting from Colorado, secured two wins and a new 350 SuperSport class record aboard his Yamaha YZF-R3. Circulating the 2.7-mile track in 1:58.16, “Mad Hammer” significantly lowered the bar for the small-bike class.

During the CVMA Shootout race presented by TrackDaz and SoCal Trackdays, Andrew Lee lead stripe to stripe to the win aboard his Kawasaki ZX-10R, with Alex Fuller, Nick Ciling, Michael Bradshaw, and Dustin Coyner all doing battle the entire race for second place. At the checkers, it was Alex Fuller on his Yamaha YZF-R1, and Dustin Coyner on his TrackDaz Yamaha YZF-R1 rounding out the podium.

In our Middleweight Races, again it seems it’s the Randy Smith vs Andrew Artola show. With the two splitting wins in the Formula Middleweight and Supersport Middleweight classes.

Tired of sitting around this winter? Road trip to SoCal and enjoy some sunshine and competition with one of the best clubs in the country. Racing resumes at Chuckwalla on February 24-25, 2018. CVMA offers two full days of racing every race weekend and also includes Saturday qualifying for grid position in all classes, amateur and expert, as well as a wide variety of classes to choose from.

Additionally, CVMA offers free reciprocity as a means of encouraging racers from other clubs to come out and compete. Log on to www.cvmaracing.com for more information.

“Aussie Dave” and the DIABLO™ SUPERBIKE Slicks Set Record Pace at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway

ROME, Ga. (January 24, 2018) – Pirelli Tire North America began the new year on a tear as the brand captured its first track record bounty of the 2018 season with ADR Motorsports rider David Anthony at Round 4 of the Chuckwalla Valley Race Association’s (CVMA) race series in Desert Center, California on Sunday, January 21. Temperatures hovered in the mid-60’s throughout the weekend, but that proved to be no challenge for Anthony and his Pirelli DIABLO™ SUPERBIKE slicks as they quickly acclimated to race temperature around the 17-turn and 2.68 mile road course.

David Anthony set the new absolute motorcycle track record at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway using Pireli DIABLO SUPERBIKE slicks.

“The main purpose of this weekend was testing, and we received very positive feedback from the riders on the track,” said Oscar Solis, road racing manager, Pirelli. “Aussie Dave [David Anthony] was able to capture the absolute motorcycle track record on standard DIABLO SUPERBIKE slicks. He used a standard SC2 on the front and a SC0 on the rear. The weather was slightly on the cooler side [64 degrees] when he set the new record lap, which further confirms the performance and quality of Pirelli’s racing slicks in all conditions. Everyone at Pirelli would like to congratulate him for his hard work!”

Anthony piloted a Kawasaki Ninja® ZX™-10R, using a DIABLO SUPERBIKE SC2 slick on the front tire, while opting for the SC0 compound on the rear. The Australian set the new absolute motorcycle track record of 1:45.910 during the Formula Open class, eclipsing the previous class best of 1:46.400 and absolute track record of 1:46.152. He would go on to take a convincing win in the race over his nearest Formula Open class competitor.

There was no stopping David anthony in the Formula Open class as he took the victory by 6.3 seconds.

“Pirelli has been very supportive of my efforts this season,” said Anthony. “I’m very happy with the performance of my DIABLO SUPERBIKE slicks, they held up great as I was able to set quick lap times throughout weekend.”

Anthony’s accomplishment made him the first recipient of Pirelli’s recently increased 2018 track bounty incentives program, including a $750 tire voucher, which is the brand’s largest ever reward offer.
