Top Young Racers Square Off on Moriwaki MD250Hs at 2010 Indianapolis GP Torrance, CA: As the time draws near for the 2010 Red Bull Indianapolis GP, August 27 to 29, a host of young racers are preparing for competition in a special youth class that will see them riding the Moriwaki MD250H powered by Honda. This special event has been added to the United States Grand Prix Racers Union (USGPRU) schedule and allows up-and-coming road racers aged 12-16 to enjoy an unforgettable racing experience at the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This Indy addition will feature a double-header race format. In a parallel to the World Grand Prix Moto2 class, which uses a spec-built Honda engine based on the CBR600RR powerplant, the Moriwaki MD250H incorporates a Honda-built single-cylinder four-stroke engine sourced from the CRF250X. The USGPRU’s MD250H class provides an excellent means for young racers to gain first-hand exposure to grand prix-style racing. Pre-race favorites include 2009 USGPRU MD250H champion Garrett Gerloff, 2009 125GP champion and 2008 MD250H Champion Jake Lewis, current MD250H-class points leader Peter Lenz, and Stefano Mesa, who currently holds down second place in the 2010 MD250H class. Many of these racers have grown to be good friends as they come together at the various USGPRU events around the country, but in keeping with racing tradition, once they roll out on the track the competition gets fierce””and that makes for spectacular viewing. Keith Dowdle, Assistant Manager, HRCA, said, “We offer an excellent contingency rewards program with $180,000 up for grabs on the season to encourage racing at the grass-roots level. This opportunity to compete on the world-famous Indianapolis racetrack, during one of the most prestigious motorcycle racing events in the nation, gives these young racers plenty to talk about for a long time. We hope every spectator at the 2010 Red Bull Indianapolis GP will cheer for all of these young competitors and add to this unique experience.” For more details about MD250H-class racing and the USGPRU go to usgpru.net.
