Johnson, Hayden and Carlile Ready to Battle in New York

PHOENIX (July 11, 2019) – Estenson Racing heads to Weedsport, New York, with a three-pronged effort in American Flat Track’s premier AFT Twins class – Jake Johnson, Roger Hayden and Kolby Carlile – for the New York Short Track on Saturday, July 13, at Weedsport Speedway.

Johnson, who showed strength at the past two outings on cushion tracks, including a podium at the Laconia Short Track, is hoping to carry that momentum forward on the clay. The two-time Grand National Champion has eight short track wins and would love to add another one to his resume this weekend.

Returning for another ride aboard the Estenson Racing MT-07 DT is Roger Hayden. The recently retired MotoAmerica Superbike rider has enjoyed returning to his dirt track roots and is happy to take the call to fill-in for JD Beach. After making a lot of forward progress at his previous round at the Laconia Short Track, Hayden hopes to keep that momentum rolling.

For the youngest member on the AFT Twins squad, it’s a sort of homecoming. Carlile will have a lot of family and friends from his nearby hometown of Canandaigua. The “Flying Tomato” is looking to put forth a good effort in front of the home crowd as he returns to AFT Twins competition at the short track, where the 12-round AFT Production Twins class gets a weekend off.

Jake Johnson — AFT Twins #5:

“This weekend is going to be a challenge. We’ve had some good speed the past two rounds on loose cushion-type tracks, so hopefully we can keep that going on Weedsport’s slippery clay surface. I’m looking forward to having another somewhat ‘close to home’ race and try to come out with a good result heading into the summer break.”

Roger Hayden — AFT Twins #195:

“I can’t wait to throw a leg over the Estenson Yamaha MT-07 DT again this weekend at Weedsport. I’m learning more with every lap and feeling more comfortable on the bike each time out. Last race went well so hopefully I can carry that momentum into this weekend. As always, the competition will be tough in this class, but I have a great team behind me. We will give it our best.”

Kolby Carlile – AFT Twins #136:

“I am excited to get back racing in my home state of New York. My dad is going to be at this race again, so that will be more normal for me, as well. I will be competing in the premier Twins class this weekend, so my goals are a little different. I look forward to having the home crowd fuel me to push extra-hard this weekend.”

The New York Short Track will be streamed live, Saturday, July 13, on FansChoice.TV starting with practice at 2:40 p.m. ET, followed by the Heat races at 5:50 p.m. ET. Opening Ceremonies kick off at 7:00 p.m. ET, with the Main Events at 9:10 p.m. ET.

Catch the race on NBCSN, July 27, at 1:30 p.m. ET. For tickets and additional information about the event: http://www.americanflattrack.com/events/ .

Ryan Wells Looking for a Win in Front of the Home Crowd at the New York Short Track

PHOENIX (July 11, 2019) – Estenson Racing’s Ryan Wells is amped up for his home race at the New York Short Track and hopes to take the top step of the podium this Saturday, July 13, at Weedsport Speedway.

Wells’ hometown of Albion is just a few hours from Weedsport and, like his Twins teammate Kolby Carlile, he is looking forward to having friends and family out in force for extra support. Not only is it nice to get the opportunity to race at home, it also has special memories for the former AFT Singles champ, who was able to clinch his title at the nearby Rolling Wheels Half-Mile in 2016.

Earlier this season, Wells was able to clinch his first win with the team at the So-Cal Half-Mile and would love nothing more than to score another “W” aboard the Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F this weekend.

Ryan Wells — AFT Singles #94:

“I can’t wait to get to Weedsport. It’s once a year that I get to race in my home state of New York, and I’m gunning for my second win of the season. I would love to get it in front of friends and family. We’ve been working hard as a team and I think we have a good package heading into the weekend.”
