Copyright 2004, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc. 2003 AMA Superstock Champion Josh Hayes is currently out of action due to a fracture in his left foot. Hayes, who will ride for Attack Kawasaki in Superstock and Superbike in 2004, suffered the injury while riding motocross January 3 and had minor surgery at the hands of Dr. Arthur Ting to repair the fracture January 5, according to his manager Gina Nadeau. Hayes, 28, was advised to sit out recent testing, according to Kawasaki Racing Team Manager Michael Preston, and is expected to return to action at a test scheduled for early-February at California Speedway. Speaking Friday at Willow Springs, Preston told Roadracingworld.com that the multiple arm fractures he suffered while riding motocross in November have now fully healed. Preston, a former professional motocrosser, said the worst part about his crash and injuries was that he did nothing wrong. According to Preston, he was simply warming up when a large gust of wind blew him off the side of a jump and he fell.
