Sunday’s AMA Superbike finale at Road Atlanta was stopped before the third lap was completed due to a multi-bike crash in the turn three chicane that may have been caused by fluid on the track from a blown motor. The two bikes that went down were Brian Stokes (who had the suspected blown engine) and Jimmy Moore. Stokes and Moore were seen walking away from the incident. At the time the race was stopped, Ben Spies was leading his Yoshimura Suzuki teammate Aaron Yates. Ducati Austin’s Eric Bostrom was third, ahead of Mat Mladin, Neil Hodgson and Miguel Duhamel. Jake Zemke had just pulled into the pits when the race was stopped. Zemke’s crew could be seen working on his clutch during the red flag break. A complete re-start has been called for.
