In the video seen below and posted multiple times in various versions by multiple people on Facebook, a young, apparently drunk spectator rides his bike onto the track at DuQuoin after-hours on July 4th and is attacked by American Flat Track (AFT) Chief Operating Officer (COO) David McGrath, who knocks the young man and his bike over. McGrath then jumps on the man and puts him into a choke hold, threatening “I’ll f–king break your f–king neck.”  

Among other things, the young man pleads “Stop. Please. Please. Please. I’m sorry.” as McGrath keeps him in a choke hold and two State Police officers approach; an angry McGrath challenges them, asking “you with him?” One of the officers replies, “State Police” at which point McGrath releases his choke hold on the man and stands up.

According to AFT sources, the young man was arrested for riding on the muddy track and causing ruts, and McGrath was not arrested. The AFT sources declined to comment on the record.

This version of the video was posted by former flat track racer Ben Knight, and we have also seen it posted by Jason Felske and numerous others, with at least one version being posted with music added (which makes it harder to hear what McGrath and the young man are saying).

Update:

In response to a request from Roadracing World, the Illinois State Police issued the following statement:

“On July 4, 2026, at approximately 9:44 p.m., ISP Troop 10 responded to the report of a Criminal Damage to Property Complaint at the Du Quoin County Fairgrounds Racetrack. Jordan M. Lebeau was taken into custody for Criminal Damage to Government Property. This is an active investigation and there is no further information,” said Trooper Ryan Wagand of the department’s Public Information Office.
