Yamaha’s Aaron Gobert took his first AMA Supersport pole position of the season and his second Supersport pole in as many years at Pikes Peak International Raceway Saturday.

Gobert’s time of 55.597 on his Dunlop-sponsored Yamaha was slightly slower than his own class lap record time of 55.547.

“The track definitely felt a little bit slower, so I knew if I could get close to my record time I would be good,” said the middle of three racing Gobert brothers.

Gobert’s teammates Jamie Hacking (55.743) and Jason DiSalvo (55.990) qualified second and third, respectively. Kawasaki’s Tommy Hayden, the current AMA Supersport Championship points leader, qualified fourth with a time of 56.091 on his factory ZX-6RR.

Forty riders, the maximum allowed on the grid at PPIR, qualified for the race.
