Estenson Racing Unveils 2019 American Flat Track Team Ahead Of Season Opener In Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 11, 2019) – Estenson Racing is pleased to unveil its livery and team structure for the 2019 American Flat Track season as excitement builds ahead of the Daytona TT series opener on Thursday, March 14, at Daytona International Speedway. The team is also happy to welcome some new and returning partners in its greatly expanded effort across all three classes – AFT Twins, AFT Production Twins and AFT Singles.

Estenson Racing is all-in with Yamaha for 2019, fielding the newly developed Yamaha MT-07 DT in the Twins classes and the championship-proven Yamaha YZ450F in AFT Singles. Both machines sport Estenson Racing colors with a powerhouse line-up of partner’s logos on display: Monster Energy, Yamaha Racing, Yamalube, S&S Cycle, WPS, FLY, Dainese, Motion Pro, Vortex, Pilot Flying J, Truline, Utility and McCandless Trucking Center.

Supporting their efforts is a team that brings a wealth of experience in flat track and racing. Heading the program is Director of Racing Operations Tommy Hayden. The two-time AMA Supersport Champion with flat track roots joined the team this year to help with its expanded effort.

The Twins program brings a mixture of youth and experience, with two-time Grand National Champion Jake Johnson and multi-time road race champion with flat track roots, JD Beach, leading the campaign in American Flat Track’s premier class. Joining them is 2017 AFT Singles Champion Kolby Carlile, who will race both AFT Twins and the entire 11 rounds of the all-new AFT Production Twins Class.

On the Twins side of the team, well known flat track engine builder Mike Stauffer comes on board full time in 2019 to head engine development and crew chief for Beach. Completing Beach’s crew is retired road racer Josh Day. Returning for another season is racer turned flat track wrench Mike Hacker, who will step up into the crew chief position for Johnson, joined by mechanic Dustin Say. Overseeing the team’s shop in Arizona and serving as Carlile’s crew chief is Brandan Bergen. The former flat track racer recently comes on board after two years with the factory Indian Motorcycle team. Assisting Bergen is mechanic Ken Nelson who brings 40 years of motorcycle industry experience. Helping with the development of the MT-07 DT is Jeff Pahlegyi of Pahlegyi designs and returning with increased technical support for 2019 is S&S Cycle.

Leading the way on the Singles side is 2016 AFT Singles Champion Ryan Wells, who will be joined by one of the sport’s top up-and-coming amateurs Dallas Daniels when he turns pro in June. Heading the Singles effort is former racer and well-known Singles tuner, Nick Daniels.

Returning for a second season to handle communications and marketing for the team is Andrea Wilson, who brings with her over 16 years of experience in motorcycle racing.

“I can’t say enough about how excited I am for the 2019 American Flat Track season,” said team owner Tim Estenson. “I’m passionate about the sport of flat track racing and I’m happy to put together a serious program to go for the championship in all three classes. I’ve long believed that the secret to success is surrounding yourself by good people and we have that with our team and the partners that have stepped up to the plate to support our program this year.”

About Estenson Racing

Estenson Racing was born out of Team Owner Tim Estenson’s passion for motorcycles and flat track racing. In just their first full year of racing, Estenson Racing quickly established themselves as one of the top non-factory teams in American Flat Track. They reaped success early with an AFT Singles Championship and an X Games Gold Medal and followed that up in 2018 with their first win in the Twins class and multiple wins on the Mile in AFT Singles. Next year the team is more than doubling in size with JD Beach, Jake Johnson and Kolby Carlile in AFT Twins, and Ryan Wells and Dallas Daniels in AFT Singles.
