ALLINGHAM SET FOR BRITISH SUPERBIKE DEBUT IN 2019 WITH EHA RACING
EHA Racing will enter unchartered territory in 2019 when they take on the might of the British Superbike Championship for the very first time, with 23-year-old series rookie David Allingham. It’s an exciting proposition for everyone involved at EHA Racing; none less than David himself, and as you would expect, he cannot wait to go racing, aboard his CF Motorsport prepared EHA Racing Yamaha.
Allingham said: “If I’m honest, I’ve had one eye on this move for a couple of seasons. We’ve won races in Supersport and competed at the sharp end with the likes of Mackenzie, Dixon and Andrew Irwin, to name a few, who have all shown great promise in BSB. I’ve no illusions at the size of the task but I’m confident we can, with a lot of hard work, match those I’ve already mentioned and establish ourselves in the series as a worthy team and rider package.”
Speaking of his new bike, the EHA Racing R1 Yamaha, he added:“I was able to get some laps on the bike a couple of weeks ago in Portugal, and although we weren’t racing out there, I immediately felt at home on the R1, and had a smile from ear-to-ear as we lapped Portimão.
“I know the characteristics of a Superbike will suit my riding style, and with the confidence I have gained working with Craig Fitzpatrick already this season within the EHA Racing garage, I have every belief, that we can set out an achievable game plan for the season ahead.
“The goal will be to focus on that strategy and not let anything else become a distraction. I’m fully aware there’s no fast track to success in BSB; you need to be patient and serve the apprenticeship before you can really go for it, but I’m excited. I’m very excited about the year ahead to be honest, and cannot wait to get on the grid.”
Parent company EHA Group will again be the foundation sponsor of the team in 2019, but taking on such a task involves a huge budget commitment. On that premise, EHA Racing is actively searching for partners to support the effort in 2019, both in the Superbike class with David, and also in the middleweight division with Alastair Seeley, where the goal is to win the British Supersport Championship.
Team Manager, Gail Allingham said:“The decision to go into the Superbike class has not been taken lightly, but we feel David is ready for the challenge. With so many young riders making the step, we feel this is the correct time to enter the premier class, and this is why we believe – with the preparation support of CF Motorsport and our own dedicated crew – we can do a solid job all round in year one with David on the EHA Racing Yamaha.”
On the commercial side Gail added:“We pride ourselves on our preparation and team presentation, which goes hand-in-hand with the desired and tangible on track success. With all these ingredients added into the EHA Racing mix, we are hopeful that this will be enough to attract some new partners for the 2019 season.
