Racer John Hopkins and Red Bull Yamaha WCM’s Peter Clifford plan to attend the AMA National at Virginia International Raceway August 9-11.

Hopkins, who won the 2000 AMA 750cc Supersport Championship and the 2001 AMA Formula Xtreme Championship with Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki, now rides a Yamaha YZR500 for Red Bull Yamaha.

Clifford is Racing Director for Red Bull Yamaha and visited the AMA National at Brainerd in 2001, prior to signing Hopkins to a three-year MotoGP deal.

The team plans to campaign Honda RC211V engines in a Moriwaki chassis in 2003.

Hopkins will be accompanied to VIR by his girlfried, Desiree Crossman.
