After 15 years of service as race officials, George and Marge Mood are retiring from their positions as WERA Regional Race Director and WERA Chief Registrar, respectively.

George Mood made the announcement Wednesday on the electronic message board (BBS) on WERA’s official website, www.wera.com. His statement read in part:

“The why is not important to the readers of this BBS. It is important that you know this: WERA deserves our full commitment on our part to continue in our capacities. For reasons we gave to Evelyne (Clarke, President and CEO of WERA Motorcycle Racing Inc.), we do not feel that we can serve WERA and its members as we have in the past.

“This has not been an easy decision for either of us. We have spent much time in conversation, attempting to find a way to handle our family matters and our obligation to WERA as officials. We concluded that we would not be able to give WERA the energy and attention that we have in the past.”

The Moods could not be reached for further comment at post time.
