Nick Cummings, 18, the 2003 Formula USA Grand National Championship (which combined results in select dirt track and road race events), is riding an ex-Miguel Duhamel CBR600RR in AMA Supersport this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

“We’ve been supporting him in dirt track and giving him bikes to get acclimated to road racing and improve his skills,” said Chuck Miller, American Honda Racing Manager. “His manager Jimmy Filice (of OMS Sport) asked if he could come do an AMA National, so we brought one of Miguel’s old Supersport bikes so we can keep furthering his experience and keep bringing him along.”

“We’ll see how it goes,” said Cummings. “I’m not really racing the other guys as much as I’m racing the track this weekend. I’d like to get down into the 1:31s. It just feels good to get this opportunity. The Honda guys have been really good to me.”

Although he is pitting out of the American Honda team garages at Mid-Ohio, Cummings is working with his regular crew of mechanics, not the factory team mechanics.
