From a press release issued by CCS Florida:

Eric Wood won the main event at Homestead-Miami Speedway during the CCS Florida region’s opening event, without his muffler. Most of the racers entered in the Unlimited Grand Prix event did opt to accept promoter Henry DeGouw’s bonus incentive of a higher payout to riders who removed their canisters. The exceptions: Team Desmomaniacs and John Costa’s Ducati 996s with their undertail exhaust systems (which are plenty loud enough, even with the mufflers).

Wood led the Unlimited Grand Prix race on his GSX-R1000 after working his way through traffic to get to the front. After only a few laps, he was leading the way for his brother, Jeff, on his GSX-R750. Jim Pihokken finished third on his Prieto Racing sponsored GSX-R1000, just ahead of the Kinetic Motorsports prepared GSX-R1000 of Dave McEnery. Pedro Valiente rounded off the top five on his R6.

Eric Wood ran an undefeated weekend, finishing first in all three of his events. He also won the Unlimited Superbike and GTO races. The brothers Wood gave new meaning to the term sibling rivalry as they turned the GTO event into a two-rider fight for first place. Eric simply dominated the race as Jeff pushed him from behind all the way to the finish. Pihokken finished third.

Florida’s own Pedro Valiente dominated the middleweight classes, winning the GTU, Middleweight Supersport and Middleweight Superbike races.
