Former AMA Superbike team owner Jim France has a personal fortune worth $1.3 billion according to Forbes magazine’s 2005 rankings of billionaires. Jim France and his brother Bill control Daytona Beach, Florida-based NASCAR and International Speedway Corporation. Jim France was the driving force behind the Daytona 200 becoming a 600cc race in 2005. The move followed a series of tire failures on 1000cc machines that resulted in high speed crashes and rider injuries at various racetracks during 2003 and 2004.
