Army of Darkness (AOD), multi-time Champions in the Mediumweight Superbike class of the WERA National Endurance series, has secured the services of AMA Formula Xtreme and Supersport front runner Chris Peris to team with regular AOD rider Ben Walters, Jr. in the four-hour WERA National Endurance season finale October 14 at Road Atlanta.

“Obviously, going into the last round of the season with the Championship at stake, we’re trying to put ourselves in the best position possible to win,” said Sam Fleming, owner of AOD. “We’re using every trick in the AOD playbook — and a few new ones. Plus, we’re continuing in a long, noble tradition. We’ve had Mark Junge, Josh Hayes and Ben Spies ride with us in the past, and John Hopkins also almost rode with us, once.”

Less than one point separates AOD and Championship challenger Red Star, meaning that whichever team beats the other Friday will win the Championship.

“They’ve made remarkable improvements in their rider line-up over the last two races,” said Red Star team owner and rider William Lindsey, referring to Peris joining AOD after World GSX-R Cup Champion Robert Jensen rode with AOD in the penultimate round at Barber Motorsports Park.

Asked if he had made any changes to his rider line-up or his Yamaha YZF-R6 for the climactic final round, Lindsey said multi-time endurance Champion Joe Prussiano will return to his team following mid-season knee replacement surgery.
