Blata: Authorities Seize Container Of Illegal Copies In Malta

With reference to previous communication concerning the intensification of action being taken against illegal copies of BLATA products, we are pleased to inform you about a successful intervention that took place this week in Malta. BLATA had identified a German importer who unsuccessfully tried to import imitations of our patented products from China through the Port of Hamburg, Germany, for distribution to other EU Member States. Once the importer realized his serious mistake he became extremely concerned of the imminent penalties applicable from the illegal sale of such products and refused to accept the container. BLATA with the cooperation of the unnamed importer, Customs Authorities and the Police of the countries concerned, together with law firms and judicial systems from the respective countries, have helped track down the container and intercept it in the Port of Malta. When the container was opened, it became evident that the information that had been gathered was true as it was full of poor quality copies. Since the products could not be distributed in the market, the Chinese counter-party requested that it be returned to China immediately, this of course was refused by the authorities. The entire incident is viewed as a clear criminal offence with inevitable legal consequences: the counterfeit products will be destroyed and the Chinese manufacturer will have to pay financial compensation to the aggrieved party (BLATA). This successful and quick intervention is just one of many invisible steps being taken and, at the same time, a clear indication of how our company is going to proceed in the future with respect to other cases, many of which are already in the process of being solved. We will keep you informed of further results when the cases have been successfully resolved.
