BMW Motorrad today announced it had developed a new sport touring model based on its K1200S sportbike that it claims will possess “new dimensions in riding dynamics and long-distance qualities.” The K1200GT, as it will be known, will be powered by the same 1157cc (79 x 59mm, bore x stroke) transverse, inline four-cylinder engine as the K1200S sportbike, albeit detuned from 167 peak horsepower to 152 peak horsepower. It will still produce 96 lbs.-ft. of peak torque but at 7750 rpm versus 8250 rpm for the S model. The K1200GT will also have Duolever front suspension, Paralever rear suspension, a six-speed transmission, shaft final drive, semi-integral ABS, an electronic immobilser, brake pad wear indicators, adjustable seat and handlebar positions, an electronically-adjustable windscreen and ESA electronically-adjustable suspension. Optional accessories will include GPS navigation systems, xenon headlights, cruise control and more. No pricing information was released.
