Ben Spies was leading the Sunday Superbike race at Barber Motorsports Park when it was red-flagged on the 21st lap, to allow ambulance crews to attend to Roger Hayden and lapped rider James Kerker, who collided. Both riders went into the Airfence in front of the turn 3 wall and while Hayden limped away with help from a cornerworker, Kerker remained prone. Roger Hayden was running fifth behind Spies, Miguel Duhamel, Tommy Hayden and Aaron Yates when he hit Kerker. Spies had taken the lead when a checking-out Mat Mladin crashed on lap 4, falling back to 29th before he got his bike restarted and rejoined the race. Mladin had worked his way up to 14th when the red flag fell. The race was originally scheduled for 28 laps and is likely to be restarted using the lap 20 running order. Lap 20 Running Order 1.
