Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki’s Chris Ulrich gave rides to reporters from television, radio and newspaper outlets on a specially-prepared, two-seat GSX-R1000 Superstock racebike Thursday and Friday at California Speedway, in preparation for the Suzuki Superbike Challenge Weekend. During a break in Thursday’s promoter practice Ulrich gave three-lap rides around the 2.3-mile, 21-turn to Leonor Vivanco, a reporter with “The Sun,” a daily newspaper in San Bernardino, California, and to Demondrae “5-Cent” Jones, co-host of the morning show on hip-hop radio station 99.1 KGGI-FM . Vivanco wrote a lengthy piece on her experience during the ride, which appeared in the Local section of the April 28 edition of “The Sun.” Vivanco’s article was accompanied by four pictures, including three action pictures, one of which appeared on the front page of the newspaper. Vivanco’s story also appeared on the newspaper’s website, www.sbsun.com. Jones had Ulrich as a guest on his live radio show Friday morning, which was broadcast from the paddock of California Speedway. Early Friday morning, Ulrich gave a short ride on his two-seat racebike to Gayle Anderson, a reporter with WB affiliate KTLA’s Morning News show. Ulrich appeared with Anderson in two, 10-second “teasers” and in one, three-minute segment, which included trackside and on-board footage (from a helmet-mounted “lipstick” camera) of the ride. “Wow! That’s the sh-t!” said Anderson, immediately after her ride. “I see why you do it, now. I see why you do it. That was amazing.” Ulrich’s teammate Robertino Pietri rode in close proximity to Ulrich during the two-seater rides to give the guests a better appreciation of actually being on track with other bikes and riders.
