Californian Hawk Mazzotta, 24, is planning a return to AMA professional road racing in the 2007 AMA Supersport Championship. “Im so stoked to be back racing, everything about it feels right,” Mazzotta was quoted as saying in a press release. “I’m now mentally in the right place to be racing. These three years off I was able to work hard and try new things. Now going back to racing I want it more than ever.” After success club racing 125cc Grand Prix machines, Mazzotta moved on to AMA Pro racing but had three seasons (2000, 2002 and 2003) cut short by serious injuries. In 2001, he won the Formula Continental National Championship and finished 12th in the Cart FedEx Toyota Atlantic series in auto racing. Veteran AMA race tuner Jeremy Daniel will be Mazzotta’s mechanic.
