New VP Of Marketing & Sales For Laguna Seca

MELVYN RECORD JOINS MAZDA RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA AS VICE PRESIDENT MARKETING & SALES MONTEREY, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2007) Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/General Manager Gill Campbell announced today that Melvyn Record has joined the staff as Vice President Marketing and Sales, to direct the overall marketing efforts for the world-renowned Monterey Peninsula road course. Record brings more than 20 years of experience in motorsports marketing. He comes to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca from his position as Vice President of Marketing at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. He joined Infineon Raceway in 2000, after spending 11 years at the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) where he held several positions including Director of Field Marketing, Director of International Relations and Associate Editor of National Dragster, the NHRA’s weekly publication. “We are very pleased to have Melvyn Record join our team,” said Campbell. “His extensive experience in both the Bay Area and the motorsports community makes him an ideal fit for us as we continue to grow our major events.” “Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is one of the great venues in the world of motorsports,” said Melvyn Record. “I’m looking forward to working with our current marketing partners and developing new relationships to take the circuit and its events to the next level.” Record joins Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca just in time for this weekend’s 2007 season-ending Monterey Sports Car Championships (Oct 19-21), featuring the American Le Mans Series running a four-hour, Saturday afternoon-into-evening race into the darkness. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2007. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501C(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races. Last season, SCRAMP donated over $400,000 to those local charities and civic organizations.
