Jake Zemke, 31, has signed a one-year deal to race in the 2008 AMA Supersport and Formula Xtreme Championships for the Erion Racing Honda team. “I’m really excited about it, actually,” Zemke told Roadracingworld.com. Zemke said he explored many opportunities, both in the AMA and World Superbike, but chose the Erion Racing Honda ride based on the team’s track record of building race-winning machinery. “Our Superbike hasn’t been real competitive over the last three years. I’m excited to be back on equipment I know can win races, where we’re going to be showing up, week-in and week-out, to win races. That’s very motivating at this point. The events of the last three years weren’t a whole lot of fun. We’re looking to have a lot of fun, and I think we’re going to have some great results this year. We’re going to be shooting for both of those Championships.” According to Team Owner Kevin Erion, Zemke will work with Crew Chief John Ethell, whom he has worked with in the past. In addition to being a four-time runner-up in the AMA Formula Xtreme Championship (two times when it was an open displacement class and two times when it was a 600cc class), Zemke has won three AMA Superbike races, two Supersport races and 12 Formula Xtreme races in his career Zemke and teammate Josh Hayes will make their 2008 pre-season testing debut at the Dunlop tire test at Daytona in December.
