Seven-time Formula One World Champion racecar driver Michael Schumacher, 39, participated in the IDM (Internationalen Deutschen Motorradmeisterschaft, a.k.a. German Superbike) Championship event this past weekend at Oschersleben, in Germany. He was 23rd-fastest in the wet first qualifying session (with a 1:47.978 compared to Kai-Borre Anderson’s 1:41.367), but Schumacher could not take part in the dry second session due to a technical problem with his Holzhauer Racing Promotion Honda CBR1000RR and ended up 37th out of 39 on the grid. Schumacher went from 37th to 28th in the first 20-lap race, finishing one lap down to his teammate Martin Bauer. In the second race, however, Schumacher was 21st and challenging for another position when he caught his footpeg on a curb and crashed without injury. Bauer also won the second race.
