Responding to promoter inquiries about Honda’s 2009 racing intentions, American Honda Motor Co. Senior Vice President Ray Blank said in an e-mail that the company’s plans for 2009 are uncertain, and that the promoters should call Tim Buche of the MIC. The e-mail was described to Roadracingworld.com by a racetrack executive who said he had received a forwarded copy. Thus just in: The relevant section of the e-mail in question: Your timing is perfect. I would be happy to attend. I held a “Town Hall” meeting yesterday with our race team, telling them that in all honesty, I did not know what we were going to do next season. I told them I would call Mr. France, and scheduled that call today for tomorrow morning. My fundamental question to him is to ask very openly if he indeed wanted OEM participation in his series (SX and MX are also starting down the same road) or if he would just as soon not deal with us anymore. Alan, I do not see an option for us at this point. I would very much appreciate the meeting. Might I suggest you touch base with MIC president Tim Buche at 714.348.8608 to discuss options for our (OE’) participation. On my own, I’m open to any scenario. I need a plan by September 1 or face the loss of most of our contractors in Team Honda. Thanks, Ray
