Powerful gusting winds could play a role Saturday during the first leg of the AMA Pro Road Racing Suzuki Superbike Challenge doubleheader at Auto Club Speedway. As they often do in the region, strong winds are ravaging the Fontana, California facility to the tune of 20-30 mph sustained winds with gusts in excess of 50 mph, according to The Weather Channel. The winds have already made their presence felt as early Saturday morning they ripped the large awning off the side of the Aussie Dave Racing semi-truck and flipped it over the top of the vehicle. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the area until 5:00 p.m. local time. While the winds may affect all racers and teams to some degree, warm temperatures (the high is expected to reach 81 degrees F) should keep things relatively comfortable for spectators. The winds are not forecast to be as strong on Sunday.
