Roadracingworld.com’s Santiago Villa Makes History: One Season, Three CCS Overall Regional Titles Team Roadracingworld.com’s Santiago Villa made CCS history in 2010, winning the overall Number 1 place in the CCS SouthEast, Mid-Atlantic and Florida regions. It is the first time that any rider has won three CCS Overall Regional Championships in the same season. During the CCS End of Summer Cyclefest at Virginia International Raceway in September, Villa notched eight race wins, sealing the Overall Championships in the CCS SouthEast and Mid-Atlantic Regions. The event was held on the same weekend as the AMA Pro Racing Superbike series event at Barber Motorsports Park, where Villa was scheduled to race in the Daytona SportBike class on the Roadracingworld.com Suzuki GSX-R600. Villa’s sponsors and team agreed with Villa’s request to skip the AMA races and compete in the Virgina event. In winning the eight races, Villa took the SouthEast Region title over Greg Melka by a comfortable 284-point margin. But in the Mid-Atlantic Region, eight wins on the weekend earned Villa the title by less than a point over Joey Thomas, 1047.16 points to 1046.55. A week later, Villa was gridded up at Palm Beach International Raceway, where he won six races Unlimited Supersport, Middlweight Supersport, Heavyweight Supersport, Unlimited Superbike, Middleweight Superbike and Middleweight GP en route to the Overall title for the CCS Florida Region. In addition, Villa finished 18th overall in the AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike class. His best finishes were a pair of 11ths at VIR. “I am very happy,” Villa says, “for me and my sponsors Dunlop, Addict By Bosi, P3RACING, Heroic Leathers, Arai Helmets, Tacama Motul, Bodytech, MSF Designs, and Moto Xtreme. Also to my Team Prieto Performance, the help of Moto Corse, and also Team Hammer for helping me each time I had a problem, like when we had to swap engines at Roebling Road in Georgia. This has been a great effort from many people.” Villa’s other sponsors include Eric Gray at GMD Computrack in Ft. Lauderdale. Villa has re-signed with Heroic Leathers, and his plans include racing in the 2011 AMA Pro and CCS series.
