MALLORY PARK race circuit is looking at exciting ideas to revive the historic ‘Race of the Year’ after being left off the 2011 British Superbike calendar. The Friendly Circuit near Leicester has been a staple on the British Superbike Calendar since the start of the series in its modern form in 1995 (missing only 2003), attracting large crowds and entertaining them with great racing. Mallory Park General Manager John Ward said: “It is disappointing for motorcycle fans in the midlands that Mallory Park is not on the 2011 British Superbike race schedule. Mallory Park allows some of the best racing in the UK and the crowds could see much of the action around the track from many different vantage points, something not many circuits can match. “However we can assure the motorcycle fans that attend Mallory to see top line motorcycle racing that we will not let the grass grow under our feet and are already working on a major event to fill the void. “We are confident that this event will be just as exciting in nature and will retain Mallory Park’s status as one of the foremost motorcycle racing venues in the country.” Watch this space.
