On Saturday, May 5th, Cameron Gish was injured in an accident on the 4th lap of the AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport race at Infineon Raceway. Cameron advanced to fourth place from his fifth place starting position and was sitting comfortably behind the three leaders when he lost traction in the front end of his Z² Racing Yamaha R6 in turn one on the fourth lap. His attempt to save the slide was almost successful but it also left fellow competitor Hayden Gillim with no room to avoid Cameron and the riders collided.

Cameron was transported by ground to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he was diagnosed with multiple pelvic fractures and minor injuries to his foot, knee and hands. “I was settling in to the race and I was feeling very comfortable following Jake (Lewis)” Cameron said from his hospital bed. “Then, coming into turn one, the bike just tucked. I’m not really sure why just yet. I’m just glad Hayden was able to make the restart.” On Monday, May 7th, Cameron underwent surgery to repair portions of his pelvis as well as exploratory surgery on his injured knee. The procedure went as planned and Cameron is now resting.

Cameron, his family and the entire Z2 Racing team would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the many fans and competitors that expressed their support for a full and speedy recovery.
