AMA PRO SUPERSPORT RACER TRAVIS OHGE INJURY UPDATE

San Jose, CA July 24, 2013

19 Year-old AMA Pro road racer Travis Ohge suffered a head injury as a result of a crash during the SuperSport race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on July 20, 2013. Travis was attended to trackside by medical staff before being transferred via helicopter to the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, in San Jose, California, where he remained unconscious and in critical condition.

On Wednesday morning July 24, Travis has regained consciousness and is breathing comfortably on his own. Doctors continue monitor his vital signs and administer tests to evaluate the extent of his head injury. Travis’ condition has been upgraded and he has been relocated out of the head trauma center at SCVMC where his outlook remains positive.

The Ohge family would like to thank everyone for the outpour of well wishes and support. Travis’ mom, dad and girlfriend remain by his bedside during this trying time while older brother Nicholas remains at the family home in Aurora, OR to manage support activities.

“We are overwhelmed at the support and follow up that everyone has given us and Travis through this unfortunate event,” says father Rob Ohge. “All the medical staff from the track, AMA officials and friends continue to check on us and make sure that everything that can be done is being done. We read every message that has been sent and are sincerely grateful and humbled by the support.”

We would like to give a very special thanks to HBSK team owner Bobby Shek for the tremendous support, Dr. Rossi and medical staff Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Al Ludington, David McGrath, the AMA staff, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, the medical helicopter transport team and all the dear friends that have reached out to help during this difficult time.

The family will continue to provide updates on Travis’ condition as they become available in the coming days on Travis Ohge’s Facebook page.
