Three Elements Top Athletes Share

In this new video series, REV’IT! dissects the mind, body, and soul of three top motorcycle racers. Alonso López, Augusto Fernández, and Danilo Petrucci share their personal stories of success.

The dictionary defines an athlete as someone who is skilled or trained in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical agility, stamina, or strength. Reaching the pinnacle of a particular discipline, however, requires something more: exceptional strength of mind, excellent body control, and an unrelenting drive from deep within the soul. In this three-part video series, REV’IT! assigned three of its athletes one element in which they excel and asked how they believe that element is reflected in themselves.

Danilo Petrucci — Soul

Loved for his incredible character, Danilo Petrucci is a multifaceted racer. In a rarely seen career path, Petrucci barged through Superstock — first in Italy, then in WorldSBK — directly to MotoGP. The 32-year-old Italian went on to win not one but two Grands Prix, with his victory at Mugello on a factory Ducati a dream come true. Petrucci then took on the Dakar Rally and the MotoAmerica Superbike series, racking up wins on two continents. This year, Danilo has returned to WorldSBK and the team with which he fought for the 2011 Superstock 1000 title, contesting a fourth championship with three different manufacturers in a little more than two years. They don’t call Petrucci “The Handyman” for nothing.
