Episode 1 of “Deep Thinking: The Motorcycle Road Racing Podcast” featuring Ed Sorbo and Michael Gougis Now Available.

Deep Thinking is a weekly 20-minute forum where two committed motorcycle road racing enthusiasts who have been immersed in racing for decades offer their insights, opinions and thoughts on the finest sport in the world. Ed Sorbo is a former AMA Pro road racer who has taken the podium in 250cc GP competition, and has served as crew chief for some of the nation’s top teams and riders. Michael Gougis has spent 20 years as a privateer club racer, has won multiple class championships and set lap records, and is a veteran motojournalist who has written about the sport from every angle. The pair bring insight, intelligence and a behind-the-scenes perspective to the sport and the business of motorcycle road racing, as well as cracking themselves and each other up.

In Episode 1, “To Race Is To Live – Why Road Racing Motorcycles Is So Critical,” Gougis and Sorbo talk (and talk and talk) about why it is so critical for individuals, privateers and factories, from Mahindra to Honda, from the no-hopers to Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi, to go racing, and how racing improves the breed of man and machine in a way that nothing else can. In addition, they discuss why locking engineers in a room and threatening to electrically shock them if they fail is a poor method of motivation.
