AMERICAN TT RACER BRANDON CRETU INJURED DURING TRAINING

American real roads racer Brandon Cretu was injured yesterday during a crash while training on his supermoto at Allsports GP in Virginia. Coming off of a successful North West 200 and Isle of Man TT, Cretu is undoubtedly having his best season of his career. Riding for Bimota aboard their new flagship superbike, the BB3, he secured a top 20 finish at the North West 200 and joined the 120 mph club at the TT, setting a 121.7 mph lap during Senior TT qualifying.

Cretu has trained regularly on his supermoto since 2008 and considers it one of his main strategies in staying focused and bike fit throughout the year, particularly in the winter. Cretu’s next race with Bimota is at the Ulster GP during the first week of August.

Brandon Cretu, commented:

“Certainly not the way I wanted to spend my summer break between the TT and the upcoming Ulster GP in August! I had a wheelie coming down the front straight and it came back a little far on me, when I set it down it I was a bit too close to the barrier at the side of the track. My luck caught up to me and my leg got pinched in between the barrier and my bike, which pretty much snapped my tibia and fibia instantly. Surgery went well and prognosis looks great so just a matter of putting my head down and doing everything possible to be ready for the Ulster GP in August! Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes!”
