More, from a press release issued by AGR Team:

GREAT FOURTH PLACE FOR ROBERTS IN VALENCIA DESPITE HIS FEVER

Jason Uribe completed a well-deserved top 10 position, still recovering from a recent injury

Joe Roberts finished far from the podium, 20 seconds away, but with fever and being his first weekend at the Valencia track, he signed an exceptional fourth place in the second race held today at the scorching Ricardo Tormo. In fact, the Californian kept his starting position in the first laps, and as the race advanced, three of the riders of the leading group were out of contention. They formed a second group with three drivers, in which Joe – fifth in the overall standings – was determined to get and battled until catching up with them in the last laps, passing them and crossing the Finish Line in fourth position. Good for Joe! And good for Jason! Uribe matched his best result of the season, achieved in Albacete. Uribe lost two positions at the start and fought until the end to recover them, dealing with the pain on his knee.

On the other hand, things were not as good for the two Argiñano & Ginés Racing Team riders in the first round held at noon. Joe Roberts lasted only one lap, he crashed after stepping on a white line after a good start. He didn’t feel well, physically and mechanically he had not been able to run enough due to the fever, so the settings of the Kalex were not completely good for him, but they did make significant changes for the second race that worked well. His team mate, Jason Uribe, lasted just a little longer. He got into a corner too fast in the first lap and crashed. The rider from California noticed that his accelerator did not work perfectly and the team changed the wiring for the second race as a precaution. It was a pity, because only 15 riders finished the first race, so all of them got points. The first race lasted only 12 laps of the 19 scheduled, due to a red flag that appeared soon after a crash.

Joe Roberts #27 Kalex Moto2 / NC/4º: “Today was a pretty good day, coming away with the fourth place and considering my condition and everything that’s been going on this weekend. Missing out on Friday and not having quite the right setup due to not having as much time on the track as everybody else. It was a good weekend. Unfortunately, I had a little crash in the first race, made a small stupid mistake. I came away with the fourth place in the second race, so I’m happy and looking forward to Estoril, where testing there I was quite strong and I think I feel I can be really competitive there and do a good race. I’ll be back to feeling a 100% by then, so I’m really looking forward to it. Thank you to the team because they worked so hard to get the bike ready for the second race, after crashing in the first. I did some damage to it and they had to work very hard to get it ready to the next one”.

Jason Uribe #36 Kalex Moto2 / NC/10th: “This weekend was good for me, I definitely learned a lot about my own riding. I think the team worked very well. We had a rough Sunday and race day. I had a small crash in the warm-up and unfortunately crashed out of the first race, but the second one was good. I’ve been struggling a lot with my knee from my last crash in Barcelona. Today it was very painful and I was having a hard time but I finished. I’m very thankful for all the hard work AGR put it. Congratulations to Joe and looking forward to Estoril”.
