​Grattan Raceway Park Founder/Owner E.J. Faasen, R.I.P.

Edward J “E.J.” Faasen, the founder and owner of Grattan Raceway Park, died at his home July 10, according to an article on www.mlive.com. He was 89.

Faasen, a native of Michigan and a U.S. Navy veteran, owned and operated a general construction business. In 1960, he began building Grattan Raceway Park, a two-mile, 13-turn natural road course located near Grattan, Michigan. The track has hosted various levels of motorcycle road racing as well as auto, go-kart and drag racing over the last 50 years

Faasen is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary, nine children, 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grand children.

A celebration of Faasen’s life will be held August 6 at Grattan Raceway Park.
