The Scholtz Kid Is Ready To Lead The Superbike Stampede For Yamalube/Westby Racing This Weekend In Texas

Tulsa, OK – April 18, 2018 – The MotoAmerica Superbike Championship of Texas starts this Friday at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, TX, and Mathew Scholtz and the Yamalube/Westby Racing team are looking to carry the momentum from last weekend’s Road Atlanta Superpole win and double-podium race results into the Lone Star State where they will compete on the world stage during this weekend’s Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas.

Last year at COTA, Mathew did the Texas Two-Step with two solid, second-place finishes in Superstock 1000 Race 1 and Race 2. And, now that he’s aboard the #11 Yamalube/Westby Racing/Yamaha YZF-R1 in thoroughbred Superbike trim for 2018, Mathew is hoping to keep his string of podium finishes going.

“This past weekend at Road Atlanta far exceeded my expectations, so, coming off the Superpole and the two podiums we achieved, our confidence is high,” Mathew said. “We showed, right from the start, that we can be competitive in Superbike. COTA is kind of a point-and-shoot track that favors acceleration out of the tight corners, which is a strength of the Yoshimura Suzuki team, who have done so well there. But, our bike from last year to now has come a long way, and we’re definitely looking forward to seeing how we match up at COTA this year. Also, being able to race at the same venue and during the same weekend that the MotoGP boys will be in Texas makes everything extra-special.”

Superbike Superpole (Qualifying) is on Friday at 5 PM Central Time, Superbike Race 1 will go green on Saturday at 4:15 PM Central Time, and Superbike Race 2 is on Sunday at 3:45 PM Central Time.
