Alex Barros, a seven-time 500cc GP/MotoGP race winner, Superbike World Championship race winner, and Suzuka 8-Hours winner, retired from International-level GP racing in 2007, but the 47-year-old remains active in National-level racing in his native Brazil.

Barros recently gridded up for the SuperBike class with SuperBike Brazil, a national-level Championship with 10 different machine categories that calls itself one of the top five National Superbike series in the world. On August 19, Barros took the win in SuperBike Race One at the Autodromo de Interlagos near Sao Paulo over Moto2 World Championship racer and current SuperBike Brazil SuperBike championship leader Eric Granado.
