MONTGOMERY, NY (July 1, 2011) - AMA Pro motorcycle racer PJ Jacobsen is pleased to announce his association with Polar (), the leader in heart rate monitoring and fitness assessment technologies.
PJ will use this cutting edge equipment to monitor his heart rate and physical condition while racing and working out. Polar wireless heart monitors will transmit information about his current condition to a nearby computer where trainers can analyze the data.
"This is very exciting, and very important," PJ said. "People don't always understand that to be a professional motorcycle racer is to be an athlete first. I have to be in top physical condition to handle a racing bike. Polar heart monitors will help my trainers and I to make certain that I am strengthening my heart during work-outs rather than merely stressing it. And, just as importantly, they will monitor my physical condition during a race to make certain that my body is responding to the race as well as my bike."
PJ also said, "It's not only cool that these monitors work wirelessly, but this fact will give me more free range of motion. Other types of monitoring equipment had to be wired. Working out with wires on just never felt right, and they restricted my motion."
Team trainers added that the new Polar equipment has already been put to good use in helping PJ train for the series at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Track over the weekend of July 8-10, and the upcoming races at Laguna. This race will be the first race where PJ will wear the Polar equipment during the race.
