American Suzuki Supports PowerSport Institute North Randall, Ohio Recently, one of the great partners of PSI, American Suzuki stepped up in a very BIG way donating (5) RM-Z450 and (1) GSX-R600 engines to the school. American Suzuki, an education partner of the PowerSport Institute, supports excellence in education by donating product to assist in the development of future Suzuki technicians. The engines Suzuki recently donated will be used in PSI’s core engine course adding to the inventory of 48 engines used in the course. “These engines are perfect for use in our core engine course as students get to disassemble, inspect, and reassemble, modern engines that are used in off road racing today.” said Bernie Thompson, Campus Director of PSI. The GSX-R600 engine will be placed in the PSI Suzuki Smart course where students have an opportunity to complete the Suzuki ServicePRO certification requirements. Thompson adds, “With a partner like American Suzuki, the PowerSport Institute is able to train and send out into the work force some of the best technicians available. We are proud to have Suzuki as our partner in education and sincerely appreciate their continued support.” About PSI At PowerSport Institute, we are focused on developing technicians who are able to make an immediate impact in the workplace. As drivability and maintenance specialists, our graduate technicians know their way around multiple manufacturers’ equipment, tools, resources and shops. Listening to industry partners and breaking away from the traditional technology segment type of training that other technical schools offer, we have learned that the best way to prepare a technician to be successful in a service environment is to create one. The objective of the program is to provide learning experiences that enable the successful student to learn motorcycle technology service, maintenance, repair and diagnostic skills. The training at PSI is split into two major components: the core and the manufacturer-specific training. The emphasis is on hands-on training on actual equipment along with a solid classroom and theory curriculum. The course information will enable the successful student to learn core information that is required to have a good understanding of a motorcycle’s internal combustion engine process, primary drive operation, transmission power flow, fuel system operation, and electrical and suspension system service procedure, all skills that are required by the motorcycle industry. The course provides fundamental core skill information required by the motorcycle industry, which builds a foundation of knowledge so that a successful student can continue to gain knowledge on additional advanced-level information. At PSI, students experience what it takes to function in a service environment. Our service environment method of training provides students with the experience of working in a dealership service department. We show our students how to utilize their technical skills to become productive and efficient drivability maintenance specialists. We have designed the program to provide students with the foundational technical training that will enhance their troubleshooting skills to diagnose fuel and electrical related issues and to be able to efficiently perform service interval maintenances required on all power sport vehicles.
