VETMotorsports Launching Armed Forces Day Fundraiser

VETMotorsports has launched a “17 Days of May” spring fund raising campaign. VETMotorsports is asking for a tax-deductible donation of $17 or more between May 1st and Armed Forces Day, May 17th. Donations can be made at www.vetmotorsports.org. All proceeds of this fundraiser are tax-deductible and 100% of the money raised funds VETMotorsports’ wounded combat veteran outreach program. First observed on 20 May 1950, Armed Forces Day was created on 31 August 1949, to honor Americans serving in the five U.S. military branches.

VETMotorsports is a recognized 501c3 tax-exempt outreach program that places combat veterans into motor sports events that are team-oriented, purposeful and goal driven with actual hands-on time. The non-clinical outreach ensures that the participants are empowered and engaged; making them central components to team operations and including as many caregivers, peers and family members as possible.

“2014 has already been a successful year,” states Peter Cline, Executive Director and Founder of VETMotorsports. “VETMotorsports held an outreach event with AMA Pro Racing at Daytona International Speedway in March, with tremendous success. In May we have three major events lined up: placing veterans into two IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) TUDOR United SportsCar Championship teams at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca; placing injured veterans behind the wheel of specially equipped cars in three SCCA autocross events; and then traveling to the AMA Pro Racing event at Road America at the end of March and getting wounded veterans into the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series.”

“We are slowly accommodating the veterans on our wait list, and donations enable VETM to get these veterans participating sooner,” continued Cline. “Fundraising allows us to continue the outreach that has positively effected the lives of our participants. Our cost per veteran, per event, ranges from $500 to $1000 dollars. VETMotorsports’ objective is to provide this program at no cost to our participants. The ’17 Days of May Fundraiser’ is another component to help create a long term, sustainable program.
