ENTRY LIMITATIONS IN PLACE AT LAGUNA SECA ROUND OF AMA SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP PICKERINGTON, Ohio (June 10, 2005) — Entries into the three AMA classes featured at the upcoming Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, July 8-10, will be limited due to space constraints AMA Pro Racing announced today. Riders competing in the AMA Superbike Championship, Pro Honda Oils Supersport Championship presented by Shoei and Repsol Lubricants Superstock Series will be approved for competition based on criteria outlined in the event entry form. Although the number of entries has been limited at past AMA-sanctioned races at the Laguna Seca facility due to space, the challenge this year is even greater. In addition to AMA riders and teams requiring space, the weekend’s heavy schedule includes all participants competing in the MotoGP World Championship event as well as the Yamaha and GE-sponsored Superstars of Super Karts race. Additionally, two-separate TV production companies will be working out of the paddock. Ron Barrick, Road Race Series Manager for AMA Pro Racing said his team was working proactively with track officials to ensure that everyone’s needs were being addressed. “With an event of this magnitude there are bound to be logistical challenges,” said Barrick. “We are in constant communication with Laguna Seca sorting through the myriad of details. It will require a bit of ‘compromise’ on the part of everyone, but we’re confident we’ll get through it. The bottom line is that there is just so much space to go around and we’re working in cooperation with Laguna Seca personnel to make sure it’s distributed equitably.” Roadracingworld.com Editorial Note: The entry form criteria follow, and no, we don’t know why it says “60” in one place and “65” in another. MAZDA RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA IS PRE-ENTRY ONLY! The entries are limited to 60 riders per class. The pre-entries will be selected using the following criteria: 1. Riders that have scored points prior to the entry due date (June 24) during the 2005 season will be selected in the order of their standing. Points must be from the same class that the pre-entry is submitted for. 2. Riders ranked in the top 20 from the 2004 season in the order of their standing. Ranking must be from the same class that the pre-entry is submitted for. 3. Rider pre-entries not meeting the criteria listed in points 1 and 2 will be accepted – if the 65 entry limit has not been reached – in the order they are received at the AMA Pro Racing office. “¢ When 2 or more entries arrive on the same date, they will be sorted by postmark dates. “¢ Entries arriving and postmarked on the same date will be sorted by a lottery drawing. “¢ Faxed entries will be sorted by date and time received in the office. 4. Rider substitutions may only be made if the originally entered rider is injured, has a verifiable illness or a substantial reason confirmed and approved at the sole discretion of AMA Pro Racing. Only riders meeting the criteria in points 1 or 2, as well as riders deemed at the sole discretion of AMA Pro Racing to have exceptional racing qualifications, will be permitted as substitutes. It is the rider’s responsibility to contact the office to confirm their entries for each class they select to participate in. If your entry is not accepted you will receive a letter stating which class(es) you have been denied entry into. Pre-entries for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will not be accepted after June 24, 2005
